From sampling point to defensible number

A national environmental agency needed to report PFAS at sub-nanogram per litre levels across six hundred surface water sites, with results that would withstand legal challenge. The laboratory standardised on LGC native and 13C-labelled standards, used matrix CRMs to demonstrate recovery across river, estuarine and groundwater types, and enrolled in AXIO proficiency testing to evidence ongoing performance. Two audit cycles later, not a single result has been contested, and the uncertainty budget is traceable end to end.
